Carlos Cruz created Think About It
Weekend at Bernie’s II video On Golden Pond movies
in January 1996 when he was in the U.S. Coast Guard while stationed in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. At the time He was approached by his oldest daughter about how there were some students who were selling drugs at her high school. He realized that all the work he had done as an analist for drug interdiction was not enough, and he needed to discuss with young people the dangers of drugs. He started putting together a prevention program that would not sugar coat the realities of the drug world (with the help of a local TV station) Carlos was able to create a video that was the basis of his program at that time. He began speaking at the local schools during his off time. Before long the Coast Guard allowed Carlos to do his program full time, he was being requested to speak across the United States and in the Caribbean; he has presented in both English and Spanish. With his presentations being in high demand, he ended up creating his own job in the U.S. Coast Guard for drug and gang prevention. Since the inception of Think About It , he has spoken to over 300,000 people. He has been a guest speaker on International and local television and radio, and has spoken at numerous conferences, schools, Universities, Colleges, Churches and rehab centers.
